The University of Miami Libraries (UML) continue to serve our patrons by providing online access to needed research materials, assistance with research, and teaching resources.
To support social distancing measures, and with the health and well-being of all members of the UML community in mind, all events taking place in library facilities scheduled through the remainder of the semester (May 6th) have been cancelled, rescheduled or redesigned for remote delivery.
On the Gables and RSMAS campuses, the Architecture, Business, Law, Marine, Music and Richter (interdisciplinary) libraries remain closed. At this point these closures are indefinite; we anticipate they may extend through the remainder of the semester. We are monitoring the situation daily and will provide updates should circumstances change that allow us to re-open some or all facilities sooner.
The Calder Library on the Medical campus is open to UM and Jackson Hospital ID holders, staffed exclusively by security personnel.
The online UM Library is open. We are working on ways to ease the transition to online courses for faculty and students and to provide seamless access to library resources and services. We have shifted to online delivery of consultations, instructional sessions, and workshops using video communication platform technologies, whenever possible. Online Learning Support: The Learning Commons offers a range of remote support for all UM learners on academic and scholarly projects, from course and subject tutoring and writing consultations to technical assistance with software and online access to a host of resources.
Online Assistance with Creativity Tools and Technologies: Contact the Creative Studio for virtual support using creativity tools and technologies, such as Adobe Creative Cloud. Send an email to: email@example.com.
Course Reserves: https://www.library.miami.edu/find/course-reserves.html. Use this page to
access course reserve materials. As classes transition to an online format, UML is committed to ensuring access to course reserve materials electronically. Instructors with questions about providing access to a resource, including adding content to Blackboard, should contact the relevant subject librarian for guidance. The subject librarian can identify relevant digital content — whether licensed or open access — and refer individuals to technical specialists for assistance on how to scan analog content not otherwise available.
Return of Library Books: There will be an automatic renewal of all UM-owned books and media to a new due date of Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Patrons will be notified of the new dates via email.
