The Systems department, under the auspices of the Information Systems & Access Division, is comprised of two functional units, Systems Support and Systems Administration.
The Systems Support unit serves as the central point of contact for Library staff to obtain help with most computing and telecommunications questions or problems. Systems Support’s mission is to answer technical questions from library staff as quickly as possible. The staff of Systems Support strive to be knowledgeable and helpful with all information technology in use at the University of Miami Libraries. Our primary service goals center around the network infrastructure, email, remote user access, and the suite of applications found on all staff and public workstations. Systems Support is not able to offer assistance in repairing computers that are the personal property of library staff.
The Systems Administration unit is responsible for the implementation, operation, integration, and enhancement of the primary library information systems and applications at the University of Miami Libraries and its UM partner libraries. The unit supports the ExLibris Alma product, the libraries core library business operations platform. It comprises workflows for Acquisitions, Resource Management, E-Resource licensing & management, reporting (Analytics), and all Fulfillment activities for all UM libraries. Systems Administration also support the Leganto course reserves system, works with Web & Application Development and the Metadata & Discovery Services departments to facilitate the support of our Primo discovery layer, as well as supporting our ATLAS Systems ILLiad and Aeon instances and third-party integrations across all applications.
