Personal Transportation Devices in the Libraries Policy
Purpose
To provide students, faculty, staff, and visitors with information about personal transportation devices in the University of Miami Libraries’ facilities.
Scope
All libraries at the University of Miami
Definitions
Personal transportation devices: Any device used for human transport that does not require a license to operate. These devices may include as scooters, skateboards, longboards, hoverboards, Segways, skates, rollerblades, and bicycles.
Mobility devices: Any device used to support medical conditions and aid mobility, such as wheelchairs, walkers, and knee walkers.
Policy Statement
Personal transportation devices may not be used within library facilities. Personal transportation devices that can be stored under a desk or table may be brought into the library; however, these devices may not obstruct aisles and passageways.
Mobility devices may be utilized within the Libraries.
